This shot was taken in Yellowstone NP, on foot to get away from the crowds.  Being patient and letting the young elk approach in his own time to satisfy his curiosity led to this very intimate encounter.  Elks are frequently shot and mounted on walls, but I contend that a shot like this is a much more enlightened alternative.
