Close Encounters With The
Rarest Cat In The World

No wildlife photographer should miss the chance to photograph Iberian lynx, one of the world's most endangered cats.
Back from the brink of extinction, only 400 individuals exist in the wild, most of them concentrated in this rugged and unspoilt region of Andalusia in southern Spain.

Working closely with WWF to conserve this beautiful feline species, our private concession has a very healthy population of lynx. This time of year is the optimum time to photograph them, as this is mating season when they actively seek each other out.
Our hides are situated in the heart of rich feeding areas, and where well established trails intersect, so our chances seeing lynx are maximised. Of course this in itself does not constitute a guarantee, and patience is a necessity on your packing list when attempting to photograph these elusive cats.

There is so much more to photograph though, and you'll never be short on inspiration with Trai as your tutor!

Lots More Than Lynx!

In addition to Iberian lynx you will have the chance to use a specialist hide to photograph golden eagles against majestic mountain backdrops, and other iconic Andalucian species including Spanish imperial eagle, black vulture and griffon vulture.

We will also have access to a bespoke hide for red deer, carefully designed and situated to optimise your chances of gaining backlit shots against the sunrise.

To stretch our legs after a couple of days in the hides we will head out on foot along the river to track local otters, which seem far more accommodating for photographers than many we have encountered elsewhere.
And of course this area of Andalusia is teeming with birds - we'll be on the lookout for blue magpie and Iberian grey shrike amongst others, and listening for the melodious thekla lark and many more.
