There are many trips to India on the market, but this is especially set up for wildlife photographers who also like to appreciate and photograph the culture of the countries you visit.  Some of the highlights of the safari include

  • A choice of different tiger reserves with varied habitats, all of which offer extremely photogenic backdrops and excellent and frequent tiger encounters, plus an abundance of other wildlife, including leopard and sloth bear.

  • We will also be heading into little known nearby reserves to track down birdlife and species which don’t reside in the major parks. These excursions will include scenic boat trips, nocturnal species drive and other bespoke experiences.  We will have private safari jeeps with maximum 3 photographers in each.

  • Recommended timings: February - May is an exceptional time of year to visit India's tiger parks. February/March is before the great heat of April/May sets in (excess of 40C then) but late enough for the foliage to have died back a little for good visibility and shots. This is also the time that migratory birds swell the local population dramatically. Those willing to brave the heat of April/May can be rewarded with tigers clustering close to waterholes and increased possibilities of interactions.

  • We always think it's important to include a cultural dimension in the trip, so we will also visit rural villages where tribal life hasn’t changed for centuries, and old towns with wonderful history, architecture, temples, forts, craft traditions and markets

  • Also available: a fantastic extension to this trip takes us on bespoke leopard safaris in a region where they are revered as gods, and to track some of the few remaining Greater One Horned Rhinos in India

  • experience and photograph Holi, or one of India's other vibrant festivals, depending on time of year

  • Choose accommodation from a diverse range of lodges, tented accommodation, ancient forts, ornate traditional havelis and luxury hotels

  • Access the very best wildlife encounters with the very best guides and to soak up the atmosphere of the cities, towns and villages we visit.

  • The safari is fully bonded through Wildlife Trails who are a UK based AITO operator specialising in India.

  • Option to visit iconic Agra: sunrise and sunset photography sessions of the Taj Mahal, city tour
and visit sloth bear & elephant sanctuaries
